Summer Home Tour 2016

Welcome to Storybook Cottage!

I am so happy to be participating in the weeklong Summer Home Tours hosted by my dear friend Marty from A Stroll Thru Life. If you are stopping by after visiting Pam’s gorgeous home from Simple Details I want to say that I am so glad that you are here.

I regularly like to make changes here at Storybook Cottage. It can be the smallest of things that inspire me. Earlier this spring I found a vintage Lilly Pulitzer sundress. I loved it so much that I wanted to find out all I could about classic Palm Beach Style. I wrote a post about it this past Monday.

AdoreMagazine

All of the research inspired me to integrate the bright colors and classic touches of Palm Beach Style into our current summertime décor.

Ironing Board 059

Palm Beach Style is very relaxed and often breaks all the rules. You’ll find blue and white Chinese porcelain mixed with wicker and rattan.

Ironing Board 048

Bright colors are cheerfully mixed.

Ironing Board 063-001

Linen and cotton fabrics are favored.

Lyla Garden Print Pillow Cover | Pottery Barn:

I chose to pair aqua, blue, pink and green.

Summer Home Tour 007

Collections of favorite things are displayed in every corner.

Ironing Board 081

French chocolates paired with seashells? But of course!

Ironing Board 077

Hot summer days call for lemonade coolers mixed with kitschy flamingo drink stirrers.

Ironing Board 101-001

In the formal dining room easy elegance continues.

Garden Shed 049

Somehow all the bright colors mix beautifully.

Garden Shed 009

I love creating edible centerpieces.

Garden Shed 027

After the recent dinner party all of the citrus and tropical fruits were juiced.

Garden Shed 008

Plain dollar store chargers were given two coats of Kelly green spray paint.

Garden Shed 015

Ditto for the inexpensive chinoiserie style pedestal.

Garden Shed 019

A simple arrangement graces the sideboard.

Garden Shed 057

All of the vintage blue and white porcelain was found at estate sales and second hand shops.

Garden Shed 060

In the family room touches of happy yellow brighten up the space.

home tour 055

As this space is generally used by the men of our family the décor has a more masculine feel.

Home Tour 105

Soft blues and favorite seashells help to add a bit of summer the room.

Laura, I absolutely love your Palm Beach styling. I am Pinning your table in case I ever get so ambitious. The candlesticks are beautiful, as is the rest of your treasure trove.

It's all just beautiful, Laura. Every detail is so pretty, but what I like most is the mix. It hints of different styles but doesn't scream "beach" or "traditional", etc. Perfect!

Your dining table is gorgeous, I love the fruit (esp the pineapples) and all the color - the candles are really interesting, did you add the bling or did they come that way? Thanks for inviting us into your summer home.

Your home looks like a vacation haven! You have inspired me to pull out some summer touches in my own home. So stealing the spray painted charger idea. I have some old ones I was going to replace, think I will just paint them a pretty coral instead!
