Yesterday, a great milestone was celebrated by our family. It was such fun to give our happy outdoor picnic a bit of fourth of July flair.
I simply set up a folding table and layered it with two different vintage tablecloths. Our indoor dining chairs were topped with comfy red and white cushions.
The centerpiece did double duty as the caddy was loaded up with extra napkins, plates and utensils in addition to a bit of pretty.
Red and white transferware was topped with blue Chinoiserie dishes and set upon sea grass mats. Grandma Mary’s silver accented the antique ticking napkins. The citrus sun tree was really refreshing.
Of course the star of the show is always the food. Everything was prepared ahead of time so the day itself could be relaxed and easy.
Various meat and vegetables were grilled the night before. The simple bottled Italian marinade made everything delicious even when served cold. Have you ever tried white asparagus?
The cheese board with fresh seasonal fruit was so yummy!
Classic Coca Cola in mini bottles was dressed up with patriotic pinwheel straws from TJ Maxx. Do you add salted peanuts to your coke?
I went back for seconds.
Rudi would like to wish you and yours a safe and happy fourth of July!
How will you celebrate?
