Exciting Changes

Hello dear friends!

This past year it has become quite evident that the Décor To Adore blog needed to get a drastic makeover. I have heard from many of you that you were having trouble viewing and/or commenting on blog posts, that it was not compatible on some of your mobile devices and its pages were slow to load. This made me so sad and frustrated because I had no idea how to fix the issues and I always want DTA to be user friendly.

After some massive research I felt like I had even more questions than when I had begun the fact finding process. The information overload caused me to be on the fence about what to do and how to do it.

So this is where I give a huge “Thank you!” to my dear friends KariAnne and Jill for their willingness to help guide me with my decision.

I have decided to make the move from Blogger over to Wordpress. If all goes well it will be an automatic site/page switch in a few weeks. I will announce the move again as the time grows closer to the event. As with any move there may be a few glitches to work out.

This will mean Decor To Adore will now be mobile friendly on all devices, have a faster loading time and be more user friendly. I am also going to take the opportunity to create a new design. While I have enjoyed the current one for the past two years, I am ready for a fresh look.

You may have also surmised from these photos that there is a new crop of aprons available in the Etsy Shoppe.

I would love to hear from you. Are you on Wordpress? Feel free to leave a comment.

See you Friday!

Laura

I'm not on Wordpress, but I'm not a blogger either, so I will read it either way. Wishing you great success. :)
Love, Linda
P.S. and I already wrote it on Facebook, but I absolutely ADORE these photos of you - super pretty and looking determined as always.

Well you know that I love all your posts on all subjects. Can't wait to hear your honest review of wordpress. Good luck

I'm thinking of changes, too. I might have to pick your brain if you switch before me. Regardless, I'll always follow you, dear friend!

I really think you will love Wordpress! I've never regretted making the switch!
I've always prefered reading blogs that are on wordpress - much more user friendly and aesthetically pleasing!

You look fabulous modeling your aprons. You could be a model anytime.
Love your aprons and don't know how you can part with them.
I've never had any trouble with reading your blog or it loading slowly. You don't have ads popping up all the time and things jumping like many blogs.
I would enjoy fashion, decor and travel. You do everything well.
Best of luck with your switch to Word Press.

You pretty much summed up why I left blogger... the slow load and the comment system drove me nuts then my images went funky. Moving boiled down to this, blogger couldn't meet my goals for the future so I figured better to move early on than wait till later. Readers who use blogger should know they can be successful with that platform - I was and began freelance writing and public speaking with it, but as my blog grew this is when my user issues surfaced. There is more flexibility with WP and I hope you have a smooth transfer. I lost many of my comments because I was using disqus and for whatever reason they didn't import properly and finally told my web gal to let it go because I wanted to focus on moving forward. WP is great for bloggers who want to turn their space into a business. I made the switch in October and never looked back or regretted it one bit. One last tip of advice - those who use the G+ comment system those comments can't be exported either..

I have not had a problem accessing your blog, but that might be because I'm reading from a desktop.

I wish you the best of luck in your transition to WP. I hope it's a seamless one.

I took your survey but wanted to add one thing. I enjoy all the subjects you write about but wanted to add that I have particularly enjoyed those that deal with gardening and landscaping, in general. I hope you continue to feature those projects as well. :-)

Personally I love reading posts on Blogger. I find them easy and predictable to navigate, but I do tend to be a dinosaur! A friend has suggested that I move to Wordpress, but I am having difficulties getting my head around it. Bonne Chance.
P.S. You make a wonderful model for your beautiful aprons Laura. Bisous.

All the best, Laura. I know it will be beautiful with its new look.
Good luck with the process.

I've never had difficulty with Blogger, either reading or leaving a comment. And the mobile app works fine although I usually read from my labtop. I find Wordpress a bit clunky, but I'll continue to read your blog wherever it lands. Pretty aprons, pretty model!

I've never had problems with blogger or with your posts, either reading or commenting. I've done wordpress before and hated it. Still have to when I write for Modern Creative Life and I hate it and usually have to ask for help. I'm pretty used to contact management systems but I find them very difficult by comparison. But hey, it's what works for you! I'll read no matter what you do!

Gros bisous 🌸

I think the Blogger vs Wordpress debate will rage on forever! So many people feel strongly one way or the other. I can only speak for myself when I say that I have had no problems being on blogger whatsoever. No complaints from my readers and no problems with speed or mobile compatability. I did recently change my blog name and change the template to a more custom one and I am so happy with it! We all need change now and again! I also can't justify paying for my blog since it really isn't an income producer for me:) I'm sure you know what's best for you and your blog and I'm sure the switch will be great! Good luck! xo Kathleen|Our Hopeful Home
