Oh my how the days are flying by!
It is hard to believe that it is already the third week of advent.
Do you know why God revealed the birth of Jesus first to the shepherds?
At that time shepherds were considered by many to be the lowest of the low in regards to the economic and social scale.
So, why would God want to tell the world of His great gift via a mere shepherd instead of say, a king?
Because He wanted to assure us that the love of Christ was, and is, for everyone, not just a select few.
I find tremendous comfort in this. We ALL matter.
Tonight the Shepherds Candle, also known as the peace candle, will be lit.
May you shine bright for everyone this week.
"Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock; you who are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!" ~ Psalm 80:1
"Like a shepherd He will tend His flock, in His arm He will gather the lambs and carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes." ~ Isaiah 40:11
