The area that we are moving to in Texas is famous for its gorgeous parks and walking trails. Our dear realtor, Mary Denton, showed us a home in a much sought after gated community. Ohh la la!
The entryway leads strait in to a semi open concept great room. It features a fireplace, built ins and wood laminate flooring.
Here’s a bird’s a view taken from the stairs.
To the right is a formal dining space. A small butlers panty is to the left and small double doors lead to the kitchen.
This is the view of the kitchen from the formal dining room. You can also slightly see the sun porch which I will talk about in a moment.
Here’s another angle. Great copper pots, alas they aren’t staying.
Just past the kitchen nook is the screened sun porch.
This is the backyard.
Interestingly, the neighbors trees have not been trimmed so a fencing solution was put into place.
Back inside, to the left of the entry, is a bedroom that is currently being used as an office.
There is a small, full bathroom right next door.
On the other side of the great room, past the fireplace, is the master suite.
While it did have a angled sitting area both Mr. Décor and I wondered how our dresser and high boy would be placed in the space.
The master bath was basic builders white. Not a bad thing as it can then be transformed easily.
Here’s a overall layout shot. Near the shower is the water closet and the other door leads to a sizeable closet.
I did notice that the house had been lived in a bit hard. The cabinet doors are wood so a bit of sanding and painting could make the space feel fresh and new.
Let’s climb the stairs which are carpeted and feature good moulding.
Once again a bit of sanding and paint are required on the bannister and surround. (Mr. Décor was intently checking out the flooring.)
I did give pause to view the inset lighting located on the very high ceilings. All of the plastic rims have yellowed which is quite noticeable on the white ceiling. One heck of a ladder would be needed to reach them in order to change them out. Not to mention when bulbs burns out.
There are three bedrooms upstairs. All are on the smaller side.
As well as another full bath.
There is also a second living space that is a decent size although the angle of the roof is quite low on one side.
I did make a few videos which provide a true layout of the home.
A tour of the upstairs led by my darling guide “kitty”. 🙂
This home truly has so much potential. The built ins and moulding are top notch. The location is by far my favorite. Since it is at the top of our price range we would not be able to make many changes right away. The small graveled backyard does present a few challenges since we do have a young boy and two dogs. But let’s hear it for my favorite tour guide “Kitty” as he/she was so welcoming.
Come back tomorrow for house #2.
