I Keep Thinking About This House…

I saw a house last week that I keep thinking about.

Now it might be due to my recent trip to France but I can’t help think that with a little bit of paint and landscaping it could look more like this:

I don't know what color these shutters are but they look so pretty with the stone

I love a good rounded shutter. Be it blue…

…or gray…

Can Be Lime-Washed

…or green.

The heart of this home is currently a bit of Laura Ashley meets Hansel & Gretel.

But take down the wallpaper, remove the soffit, add a bit of paint…

…and it could be an amazing transformation like this:

Yep, lots of wallpaper removal opportunities in this home.

But the bedrooms are pretty good.

I think I would even update the leopard game room.

There’s a pool in the backyard and if you look at the building on the far right…it is a two bedroom cottage guest house.

Mr. Décor vetoed the property reasoning that it is too much house. Snort! Too much house!!!! I don’t even know what that means. :) Did he not see the dachshund dog exit built right in to the right door in the leopard room?

I can guarantee that he didn’t spy the diamond paned glass in the front door either. But I did. True that the three different types of flooring did make it difficult, but the bones are there.

I’m off to buy that man some rose colored glasses.

Oh I love this one too. He needs to rethink the space issue, does he not realize that your current downsize is not a good thing.

game room = craft room!

space = flexibility That's what I told my hubby when we were house hunting. With space you're ready for any circumstance; kids moving back home, parents moving in, whatever. When I saw that game room - well, let's just say the possibilities are endless!

What a great house! And how wonderful would it be to have a guest house for your grandmother or maybe The Fashionista!

I agree with you Laura, this house has got tons of potential, but it does come with a ton of expense to do so. :-)

You have the eye of an artist, to see the possibility in the mundane!

Well Laura, as always, I think you could make this house look charming with your own special, classic style. It's funny to me to look inside other homes and see the decor choices some people have made. It's always interesting. :)

I agree with you -- there's no such thing as too much space!! Nope. That guest cottage is a wonderful bonus, especially since Grandma Jingles will be coming to live with you, or the Fashionista may need it someday.

Thanks for sharing; I'm enjoying looking at houses with you! :) Have a wonderful weekend!

Great bones. With your design talents this would be a truly magnificent home. But removing the wall paper alone would be a mammoth task - so much in a big house. As for rose coloured glasses - I've always worn them when buying houses (sometime to my detriment.) Have a lovely weekend.

I can picture this with your "French eye", and I think it would be a beauty! I think what would woo me the most would be the guest house. I don't know why, but I have always wanted one. At this point, I would be happy with a potting shed.

Too much house??? Really??? Do men even know how much room a family needs to live in? :)
Love the pale blue shutters on the 4400 home but not sure if it would work on the brown brick. But a lovely rich terra cotta would and with some beautiful plants, what a show piece you could make of it.
The wall paper removal would be a bit of a hassle but first to go would be what ever that is on the family room. It just defies description! The dog would be wanting out just to get away from it. lol
Good luck with your househunting. Time is getting on! :)

BTW with Grandma coming to live with you, and who knows whether the other Grandma might not decide to join you some time, wouldn't the extra space be a blessing rather than a curse?

It really is a nice home but oh my, the reno! Removing wallpaper is not my thing ~ I did so much of it with a duplex I used to have. Having the guest house would be awesome! I'm sure this would be incredibly beautiful when you finished it.
