This Home is Up For Auction

As much as I adore the 1920’s charmer I shared with you on Tuesday, I have to sadly move on because it is completely out of our price range. Sigh, why does money have to be a factor? :) But I have spied a very interesting house that is in our price range as it is up for auction.

I feel as if it needs a name, like “Tara” in Gone With The Wind.

I adore the front door with its Palladian styled windows.

Oh could I cook in here! The kitchen is much larger than the small shoebox I currently concoct meals in.

There is crown molding in each of the rooms and many of the rooms have gorgeous floors.

There’s even a loft area that would be a great “Man Cave” space.

I’m thinking that there is a glorious closet behind that bathtub wall.

We’ve purchased a foreclosed home before. It was a lot of work, but so much fun. I can’t help but think of the family that used to live here. This is why I try to respect each of the rooms I feature. The spaces were once someone’s home.

  2. Oh and I am so excited for your move. Yet sad that I won't get to see you when I come to Phoenix.
Our get together's just won't be the same without you!

  3. Looks like it has quality bones - just a little colour updating needed - has big time potential. Sad about foreclosures, I cannot even imagine that and how horrible it must be to go through. One doesn't recover from that, I bet.

This front looks a little like Susan's from Between Naps on the Porch and Yvonne's from StoneGable - or Michael Lee's from Rattlebridge Farm that she's been working on, before all her changes.............it's a classic design and I love it.

  4. I love the exterior, so classic. Looks like, as Michele said, it has good bones. You could make a wonderful home there, Laura.

  5. That is so thoughtful of you not to "dis" someone's home. So often on HGTV you hear harsh comments about a house that is being considered when in reality millions would think they were in heaven to have such a home. I just wandered into your blog, and I know I will enjoy it.

  13. Wow! What a beautiful house. All it needs is your design touches and some TLC to make it feel loved again. The front entry way is gorgeous. Keeping fingers (and toes) crossed you get it, or one just as lovely, soon! :)

  14. I love Zooperson's comment.

So often people just run out of steam in their lives, or even just don't notice that the world has moved on...and we should remember there but for the grace of God go I....

Laura, I hope you get a nice big house so we can all live your redecorating adventure vicariously...good luck!

  15. I'm with you about feeling sad when touring foreclosures. When we were house hunting, there were actually some homes I couldn't walk through because the sight of children's toys scattered throughout and clothes still hanging in the closet were so upsetting. We toured one house that had a child's senior picture proofs laying on the island in the kitchen. That broke my heart. But... house hunting is generally fun and exciting and I hope you're enjoying it! Can't wait to see what you buy. This house is gorgeous... just needs your touch.
