My $6 Thanksgiving Tablescape

Are you ready for Thanksgiving? I spent the weekend polishing every piece of silver I owned and stocked the pantry and freezer. I also created a tablescape for my family to enjoy all Thanksgiving week long.

I kept in mind that even if you are on a budget it doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice beauty.

Almost everything on this table is either second hand or free from nature.

DTA Thanksgiving 2013 021-001

About four weeks ago I was cruising the aisles of Goodwill and on a really low shelf, pushed way in the back I spied a stack of 6 dishes. Did I need them? No. But I loved the pattern and thought they were perfect for fall. When I turned them over I found a mark that said “William Adams & Sons”. Into the cart they quickly went. I knew what these dishes went for on Ebay~ around $20 a plate. So you can imagine my delight at the price tag.

DTA Christmas 2013 003

My new to me “Antoinette” plates truly set this years table.

DTA Thanksgiving 2013 028-001

I paired them with my Grandma Mary’s crystal and my Great Grandma Bradley’s silver. You can find lovely glasses and cutlery for your own table at thrift stores and estate sales.

Simple place cards were made from white cardstock cut in the shape of a maple leaf.

I made the napkins for a little over $1.00. I’ll show you how tomorrow.

The centerpiece features glass candlesticks and votives. These items can also be found in abundance in second hand shops.

DTA Thanksgiving 2013 040-001

The remaining flora and fauna came from my yard and was topped with three leftover Halloween pumpkins.

DTA Thanksgiving 2013 035-001

I’ll share how I created it on tomorrow’s post as well.

How are you decorating your table?

Beautiful Laura!
It means so much to use family heirlooms for the table setting and centerpiece. I love all of the natural elements as well.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Beautiful Laura. Don't you love those fantastic Goodwill finds? And I love how God always helps us do things on a budget just as beautifully as if we'd gone out and spent a lot of money. We feel so much better about it and I think it pleases Him too.

It looks lovely, Laura. ♥

My table is decorated with a mix of Christmas greens and Thanksgiving items. Because we're hosting not only a small Thanksgiving with just my parents from next door, Jim and Sarah and I, but also a much larger Christmas gathering the same weekend, everything Christmas had to be done and it is, except for the outdoor lights. Jim and I will freeze our fingers later today and tomorrow doing that....

Blessings to you and yours.
