Have You Ever Bought Something You Already Had?

Now the second question is “Did you do it on purpose?”

Elegant dinner for 8 029-001

Recently, I was strolling the aisles of a thrift store when I spotted a very tarnished piece of silver.

I turned it over and it was marked Gorham.

It was also a pretty good price. So I brought it home and polished it up.

Now the funny thing is that I already own a pasta/vegetable server. A very utilitarian stainless steel vegetable/pasta server. I knew it too because I use it at least two to three times a week. :)

But is it wrong for me to want a lovelier version?

I think it makes for a pretty utensil party.

Oh and the marble turntable? I found that at the thrift store too. It spins my heart right round.

Plastic ladle, watch out! I am looking for a really nice replacement.

I love the new version of your pasta server...very pretty! I have the same marble turntable...I bought it at a yard sale this summer..its on the top shelf of my fridge and helps to corral all the condiments and make them easier to reach!!

Laura,
Your "new" Gorham pasta/vegetable server is lovely. I would have purchased it too! Your cooking utensils look wonderful stored in the silver urn.

Hi Laura! Oh, your new pasta serving is so pretty! I say - go to town! If you love it get it, especially for $1.99. Thank you so much for popping in to see my Tildas. I'm enjoying making them so much.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

It is never, never wrong to want two of something. I just usually forget what I already have and buy a duplicate! lol You have too good a memory is the difference. And to find one in silver! What a treasure. I like having extra utensils, especially around the holidays or for pot lucks so I have enough for serving. And now you can take the cheaper one (and I don't mean your new bargain silver one) with you and if it gets lost, you won't have to panic.
Hope you are having a great day! :)

That's the beauty of thrift store shopping...the prices are too hard to pass up something even if you already have one!!! You got two great items.

Love the pasta server. Reminds me I need to get to some auctions. So fun to find hidden treasures.

I love the whole vignette! The ice bucket for the utensils, the marble turntable, and your lovely new find!
Now I'm going to keep my eyes peeled, too! Thanks for inspiring.

Too cute, I buy duplicates of things I love all the time....think of it this way....one can always be showcased in on the countertop while the other is being washed/used....LOL Besides that at that price...can't pass it up!

You have a REALLY good eye. I'n not at all familiar with Gorham and would have passed it right on by. Out of curiosity I looked at Gorham on ebay. It is all very Downton Abbey. Oh my goodness some of those prices!

Today at Goodwill I found a pretty painting of a "water scene" (a path leading to a lake, very amateur, but I like that) for my small collection of amateur and quirky water scenes in our bathroom. Alone none of them are special AT ALL, but a few of them together are pretty. To my eye anyway.

Have you been to the 50% off sale at Fresh and Easy?

I just love your site. You make life so beautiful with your pretty choices, but REAL LIFE beautiful with your frugal ways. Love it and Thanks.

That's one thing I hardly ever run into is tarnished silver. Lucky you and to pick up such a pretty one!

It cleaned up pretty!

I buy my books used and sometimes I buy two copies by accident.

I have a marble turntable. I don't know what happened to the bottom, but I still use it in my cupboard even though it doesn't spin. I store things that could potentially make a mess on it. I've had it over twenty years.

yay for you! I'd have snagged that one too!
