Gnomes and other Garden Delights

Leaving D.C. we headed to Philadelphia to visit my cousin E., his wife Sweet T, Nene and Miss M. This is always great fun as they live in a 115 year old house and have a backyard that backs up to the forest.

Oh don’t you just love this statue? I think he may be magic.

Summer Vacation 2013 786-001

Perhaps he is the secret to the stunning lilies.

Or the beautiful blooming pots…

…and bright pops of color.

But then again, it may be the wise old gnome.

Inside happiness can be found in the form of Mr. Keats…

…Pearlie Mae…

…and Bubbee the mean. (Actually this pocket sized man is Sweet Boy’s favorite.)

Holding it all together is the angelic Nene. (See her halo?)

While visiting we enjoyed a bit of down time, lovely meals and a quick spin around the neighborhood.

Sweet boy really loved that!

Everyone in this family is a winner in my book.

Summer Vacation 2013 760

The best part about this family is they like everything we like. When we see stores that make our heart beat faster there is no hesitation to pull over.

Beckoning us in…

I know that Magpie’s like sparkly things, but what bird likes rust and concrete, the dodo?

Summer Vacation 2013 597

Let’s stretch out and consider the possibilities.

Summer Vacation 2013 589

I need ALL of it!

Summer Vacation 2013 596

We found Pan’s older brother.

Summer Vacation 2013 612

He has a face only a mother can love. Pan that is.

Summer Vacation 2013 603

Do you want to go inside or do you need a quiet moment to think it over?

Summer Vacation 2013 637

Can a 14 foot mirror be considered as carry on luggage?

Summer Vacation 2013 621

I’m considering building a fireplace just so I can have this:

Look at the detail… and the price. For antique salvage!

Summer Vacation 2013 630

I really wanted to rescue this ole girl from the basement. Can you see her reupholstered? Someone go get her. She was $200~ a steal.

Summer Vacation 2013 640

Next time, a completely enchanting day.

Laura,
Love the mirror and settee. I love these types of 'museums'! Nene's grounds are beautiful and her sweet four legged companions adorable.
So glad you got to spend time and reconnect with those you love.
