Diving Into the Deep

I was recently going through my picture folder and cleaning out old and duplicate images. I have no idea how this quote showed up in my picture folder. But I stopped short when I read it. Then I read it again. I thought to myself  “Is this true?”

I am swiftly approaching what I hope is middle age. I wonder ~
Am I kinder to others because someone was once unkind to me?
Do I stop gossip in its tracks having once (twice, three times) been the target of verbal viciousness in the past?
Do I try to make eye contact with everyone I see because I was once ignored?
Do I love because I was once unloved?
Yes.
In acknowledging this it seems easier to move past old hurts.
We can actually turn a sad situation into a glad situation. We can become our best selves even when someone else is not.
Forgiveness truly is a gift we give ourselves,
