A Collection Of Canning Jars

I adore canning jars. Such a simple element can be used so many ways. Last Thursday I found a beautiful blue gem for 50 cents at the thrift store.

I often use canning jars as vases. You saw them recently at my grandmother’s birthday party…

…as well as a few years ago for the Fashionista’s Seventies Soiree.

They also work great as candle holders….

…and drink containers.

Even washing up has never looked so good.

love using canning jars.

Lighting options are endless.

I adore how even the canning rack was used in this outdoor fixture.

Of course canning jars can be used in the traditional sense. I make jam at least once a year. Most recently I tried a new concoction which I shared on the Lady Marmalade post. The strawberries have been just delicious this year and I can’t wait to make some preserves.

Canning in Vintage Jars

One of my favorite deserts ever was cake in a jar. Yum!

Red Velvet Nutella Cake-in-a-Jar * 1 box chocolate cake mix, prepared according to package directions * 1 teaspoon red food coloring * 1/2 cup Nutella * 1 jar cream cheese frosting * 3 pint-sized canning jars

But I also loved the idea of seven layer dip for a Cinco de Mayo lunch. Ole!

50 Different Delectables You Can Put in a Jar: Cheesecake, Banana Split Cake, Whiskey in a Jar Chocolate Cake, Mini Canning Jar Apple Pies, Mexican Layer Dip, Layered Cornbread and Turkey Salad, Zucchini and Goat Cheese Tarts, Mojito, Spiked Sweet Teaand many more katheharwood

Of course they can also be used as a great gift container.

There are so many clever ways in which to wrap this humble glass jar.

As you know I also love lavender. So I thought why not combine two of my favorites?

I placed a few heaping scoops of French organic lavender in a canning jar, covered it with a coffee filter and jazzed the lid up with some twine and a button.

It was added to the giveaway collection.

Great ideas! I love mason jars. I just got some the other day and had the kids write a note to their teachers on them so that we could use them as flower vases for Teacher Appreciation Week. I just posted about them- they look so cute!

Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww! I love all the ideas for the mason jars!! There is a restaurant on the way to Prescott that all they use is Mason Jars for their drinking glasses for their customers ... I remember YEARS ago, when I was manager of a retail store, the owner of the restaurant used to call me every 3 months to put in an order for MORE mason jars! LOL! He knew my store had the best prices!

Jars are great! Do you have a good source for the old looking lids for them? Especially large lids. I have a several large jars and would like lids for them.
I made my own sewing kits to sell! They are pretty cute and cheaper than anthro's were!

I adore canning jars too. I bought Sarah two pretty blue ones that she is using for her vintage photography - to display a photo inside the jar, and for a photo prop for her photography.

Hope you enjoy a blessed new week,

I'm a fan as well. I have a local customer who buys mine up every time I put them in my shop. She is a wedding planner and uses them for everything.
I never thought of using them as a gift container - love that!
You are always so full of inspiring ideas :)
