A Spoonful Of Sugar…

Thank you SO much for all your wonderful comments regarding my ongoing office transformation. As with any design project there have been a few bumps in the road. I am currently seeking a dark teal (not turquoise) spray paint and have not had much luck. I also need to trek across town to pick up some heavy duty sewing machine needles and make a quick visit to Ikea for frames and shelves. Then the work can continue.

In the meantime I thought I would finally show you some of the lovely items I acquired when I went to France this past April. (I’m such a quick mover aren’t I? :)  Many of the treasures were immediately snapped up by buyers upon my return and a few things I decided I just couldn’t part with. The rest, well I thought I would wait until the holiday season to share them with you.

While in Paris Andrea and I made a mad dash to Julia Child’s favorite cooking supply store. It’s not a secret location, as she talks about it in her wonderful memoir, “My Life in France”.

While there I loaded up on traditional French wooden cooking spoons. They’re a bit different than those available in the states. The wood is ultra smooth and the flat, rounded edges make them perfect for stirring every inch of goodness in a pot.

Do you have a peg system like Julia’s in your kitchen?

Never fear, you have the ability to hang the spoon by the handle.

They make a perfect gift for a lovely hostess or a serious chef. I have just six spoons. It is a tiny bit of France for just $10.00 plus shipping.

As they are brand new I cannot list the spoons in my Etsy shop as everything for sale there must be vintage, antique or handmade. However, you might want to take a peek to see what other French treasures await .

If you would like to purchase a spoon either contact me privately through Facebook or leave a comment. More treasures are coming next week!

OK, if you are really sure it's teal you want, try checking out a body repair (as in automobiles) and see what they can come up with. Since they are trained to match up any shade of vehicle and have the equipment to spray paint the weird shapes of fenders and car parts, they might even be able to professionally paint the item for you. Or try a community college where they have students learning how to paint cars.
Good luck in finding what you are looking for! :)

I'm not sure I'd like the peg system in my kitchen but I'd LOVE one in my office! I used to keep an old wood spoon in my craft room to help turn sewing items. You never know when one of those beauties will come in handy!
