Wayfaring Wednesdays ~ Staycation in Phoenix

With just two weeks left in the DTA summer travel series I thought I would give you a list of some of my Phoenix favorites. (Just don’t visit for the first time in the summer. :)

The resorts, golf courses, spas and exquisite shopping are legendary in the Phoenix area. With our own sports teams, as well as being the winter training grounds for several other high profile teams, we have no shortage of great places to stay and several high end shops. While I love to look, I don’t necessarily buy anything.
Indeed, my favorite go to shops are probably your favorite shops~ Target, Home Goods, Anthro….
But for lovely local flavor don’t miss  Butter Toast Boutique, Rust & Roses, Sirens & Saints, Paris Envy, and Melrose Vintage. A few minutes drive can have you at Domestic Bliss/Found or The Willows.

For enlightening entertainment I have to say that Phoenix has really excellent museums. The Heard Museum provides fantastic insight into Native American culture. I regularly check out the exhibits at the Phoenix Art Museum.  For older kids you can’t beat the AZ Science Center. The young ones would love  the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park and everyone loves the Zoo. For design enthusiasts you can’t miss Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West.
After all that culture and shopping, you might be hungry. Check out Pizzeria Bianco but be prepared to wait for a table. For something quicker try Postino’s, Zinc Bistro, or Bario Café.
Of course this is not the end all be all list. There are many more Phoenician delights to be had. I believe that it is the local people who make any travel experience truly worthwhile. Phoenix has some really lovely ladies. The Fashionista and I recently met up with our local blogging peeps Liz, Linda, Marty, and Ceekay. The occasion? Marty’s birthday and Cindy was visiting from Wisconsin. So if you’re going to be in Phoenix, let any one of us know. We’ll be glad to see you.

As regular readers know I have issued myself a challenge to  “Fall in Love With a House I Hate” beginning on September 1st. Every Wednesday starting on September 7th I will reveal my home projects and crafts that I completed for the week and hope to see yours as well.
Who’s ready to Fall In Love?

When you have such an amazing place to tour around, a stay-cation is the way to go...or would that be stay?
Love the colours in the scenery. Beautiful!

You mentioned one of mine and one I've blogged about a few times - Bianco! My mouth waters just typing the name. Now with their new hours, it's much easier to get a table or maybe it's just because it's summer :)
My secret and favorite place is The Market Bistro behind Vincents. Divine. I've been a regular there for 7 years now :)

Laura,
I appreciate all your Wayfaring Wednesday posts. My bucket list is growing. I've never been to AZ. What is the best time of year there?

Phoenix will definitely be on my winter/fall/spring list for visiting one year. I would love to try one of their famous spa/ranches. Thanks Laura! Ann

I would love to visit Phoenix. My daughter went there last summer for a convention and said it was wonderful.

She also said that you have the most amazing heat. Actually what she said was, "Mom... you won't believe it. It's 115 degrees outside... and nobody sweats!"

Unheard of here in Dixie.

I'll plan an autumn visit, I believe!

The little shops you mentioned sound darling. So great to get together with the girls. The only time I was in Phoenix was for a convention, at The Phoenician!

I bet Phoenix is great. I couldn't get a travel type post together this week. I had to use one from my parenting column today instead. Hope you're well.

I've never been to Phoenix, but it looks like such a fun place to visit. Sometimes staycations are the best type of vacations. Thanks for sharing and for hosting this linkup. It's so fun to see all the great places out there.

What a great job you've done to highlight the best of Phoenix! I've lived here for 27 years and love it (except in the middle of the summer). Postino is one of my favorite places and Le Grande Orange. I think the Phoenician is a great resort to stay. I recognize Marty in the photo. I was able to go to one of the blog get togethers a few years ago and met her. She's a sweetie.

Glad I stopped by.

Blessings and love,
Debbie
