You Like Me, You Really Like Me…Adding the “LIKE” Button

First off let me say, “Happy Father’s Day”! Mr. Décor is the best dad I know. He also is a sweet technical genius and I am very thankful for that as I am like the least computer literate person in the bloggersphere.

I struggle to keep my blog updated and yes I google things like “How to add the LIKE button to your blog.” Laugh, but it works. (I don’t think I have ever used the word “like” so much.)

So, the “like” button. It appears you like it. But why should you add it to your own blog? Well, it only takes a one second click for your reader to provide their overall opinion. Given my Wonder Woman lamentations of trying to read over 250 other blogs every day, it is understandable that I don’t have time to always leave an opinion, but I love to quickly click on “like”. Is it impersonal? Yes, somewhat. But it is better than being a blog lurker and the blog writer never knowing you were there.

So, how does it work?

First and foremost you have to have a Facebook (FB) account.

That in and of itself is easy enough. FB provides you with step by step instructions. Be forewarned though~ FB is fun. My private online account features friends that I haven’t seen in years~ old school chums and military wives I made it through the trenches with. The instant “chat” button is genius. It’s like a modern day coffee klatch.

There is also the “SEND” button. This allows the reader to send your blog post to anyone on their reading list. Wow! What great exposure for your blog. FB now has one install for both the “LIKE” and “SEND” button.

So, how to do it. Well, like I said, I’m not the best person for the job regarding the techie side of it but here are a few people that are:

Now, it should be said that messing around with HTML makes me nervous because I don’t understand most of it. I will also say it took me two hours to figure out how to add the “like” button. But I like it. Do you?

Oh and if you’d rather read my blog while you’re on Facebook, here is the DTA Facebook Page.

Laura, Thank you!
I've been trying to put the like button in manually and sometimes it would work and sometimes, it would not work. I was able to do it from Mad Tomatoes. I'm a little nervous about messing with codes, but this worked. I appreciate it.

You are a WONDER WOMAN!! I haven't been able to figure this all out yet!! And thanks for the Impetigo info... the Doctor did not tell us to wash sheets etc... just hands every time (before and after) we administer her cream.... this is all coming from a scrape she got at school on her elbow... when I noticed the spots on Thursday night... I saw that her elbow scrape wasn't looking like a 'normal' scab... kinda yellowish... to be honest, I just thought because it is the elbow (a bending joint used all the time...) that was the reason it wasn't looking right.....so now we are cleaning that with one cloth 3x's a day and putting neosporin (SP?)and gauze on it... and putting her cream on her spots 3x's a day... and giving her an oral antiobotic.... thanks again for the advice! I appreciate it... and believe it or not...blog hopping, commenting, visiting... easy for me... I use the laptop in the living room where the family hangs out together...we watch TV together, I take breaks to play games, play barbies etc :):):):):) As you know, its really hot right now, so we don't go out much, and with Brookie's sensitive skin... we avoid the sun when possible and go mostly out at night :):):):):):):):):):):):):)

I think I'm going to figure out how to put "like" on my blog too. I am like you, not always time to leave a comment. Thanks for sharing and visiting my butterfly tablescape.

Like, hope Dad's Day was good you you guys. Like, Ann

HTML is definitely not my strong suit either. It takes me hours for what would take the hubs seconds. I'm probably the last Facebook holdout on the planet, but I have yet to sign up. Hope you had a nice weekend.

I like the idea of it, but am having a hard enough time of keeping up writing, working, and what have you, to even try something new like that right now. :)

Very nice summery change! Our house is pretty light and cheery anyway, and my hubby & I have been redecorating most of it (details/photos on my blog).
And thank you very much for the feedback on my idea of teaching quilting classes, helps me think maybe I'm NOT crazy, lol!!
