Who Bought All The Gnomes?

A few weeks ago I was perusing the garden aisles in Target and discovered the Sean Conway mushroom and gnome pot stakes. They were COMPLETELY adorable. Given that I only had $20 in my wallet and still had to buy lunch I only put two of the mushrooms in my cart and planned on coming back. Then my life got crazy busy and it was a few weeks before I got back to the store. I could not find a SINGLE  gnome. So, I went to another store, and another and yet another. I sadly came home with only a handful of red mushrooms, but no gnome pot stakes.

Now I know that there are some strong opinions about gnomes. I happen to like gnomes. It may have a little something to do with the fact that I lived in Germany where the garden gnome reigns supreme or it may have something to with the sweet film “Amélie”.

Amelie gnome
Either way I still want to know who bought all the gnome pot stakes!? I imagine it was the same wicked girl who purchased all of the size 7 Cynthia Vincent gladiator wedges and proceeded to make a fortune by selling them on Ebay. Hmph!
I really needed those gnomes. If I had had those lucky guys gracing my house this would not have happened.
Warning: Be prepared to laugh and snort.

Come back on Wednesday for a giveaway and no, it’s not for a gnome.

i have a few in my garden, and they are super cute. there is one with an open suitcase with travel stickers, and 2 that are playing musical instruments. they are rather unique in that they aren't in bright colors, either. i think i'm picky about them.

i love them b.c of the amazing race and the travelling gnome. when i was in holland last year there was a whole gnome world display, and i crouched right down in there and got my picture taken with them!

Wow these are especially cute gnomes! They look like they belong at Disneyland, and maybe Snow White is ready to walk through the garden!

Perhaps they all marched out of their own accord, under cover of darkness.

Oh my goodness, was that a reporter from Oprah??? It never fails that something like that happens on a big day, but sounds like you handled yourself graciously! I have a gnome that I bring out at Christmastime. I was inspired by the Swedish-American museum in Minneapolis, where they have all kinds of cute gnomes in the Swedish rooms at Christmas. Still crossing my fingers for you....!

Gnome Gnome who's got the Gnome??? Not me but, my hubby has a rule about shopping (because the same thing happens to me all the time). .. "When you see something you HAVE TO HAVE BUY IT! Because I don't want to listen to the whinning & complaining when you go back & it's not there". OK, that's the cleaned up lady like version of his rule (use your imagination for the real rant):) And as for the doggy accident... he's sorry Mom but, he was nervous with all the strangers in the house...Charlene

Gnomes are great! And Amelie was an adorably weird movie, lol!

Poor pup. He was probably just sooo excited. I hope he is forgiven.

The kids do that stuff to us, then they grow up and move away. Then the pets take over and continue, letting every one know, in fact they (the furry kids) are in charge. I hope the reporter and photographer have kids or pets...if not I'm sure they had a lot to talk about. I imagine it wasn't about bath salts, covered books or gift bags! Too funny, one day you will laugh aout this.

I love the gnomes! In the 1960s, my parents had a patio shoppe, that included various concrete statuary and gnomes were popular then as well, thus the connection to a time of happy memories, makes them all the more special to me.

Thanks for visiting -and- commenting on our little blog!

I too REALISTICALLY live in my house.. But it is no where close to your adorable reality!

Hopefully, one day I will get to your level of reality!

I have a Target gnome! I bought it a couple of months ago and there were only a few on the shelf at the time. The nice thing about these gnomes is that they are metal. Several years ago, I had one from Hobby Lobby that fell apart after a season in the sun and I've been hunting for a cute metal one ever since. I was giddy all the way to the check out.

I saw them too, so cute!! Love the first picture, people do get carried away.
Oh, and your July blog look is fabulous!

I like that you live realistically. My Mom & I have frustrations with people who have "museum houses" where it doesn't even look safe to sit down there. I’m visiting from She did a post of eye candy blogs. :)

I have to tell you this one. We once had this fat yellow cat, very quirky, but loveable. He ruled the roost. Our house was for sale and we would have to leave for showings, it made him very unhappy. One time after a particular important showing I came home to find a mountain of cat doodoo strategically placed right in the middle of the living lovely. I can only hope he did it AFTER the showing!
ha ha,
