On the Sixth Day of Christmas...

Over the years I have been chased and pecked by at least six mean geese. I'd like to think these nice plump birds are walking into a good, hot oven. :)

Be merry, well fed and bright.

Oh Laura sweetie...
This is so cute. I love the geese. They can be meaner than heck, and I was hissed at more than once in my lifetime by these creatures. They may look innocent, but I am not fooled by those little nobs on their heads.

They look like they are strutting their stuff. Love the pic.

Happy New Year sweetie. It has been a fun ride.

Country hugs and so much love sweetie...Sherry

We used to have a picture of my dad, trenchcoat flapping, being pursued by three geese. The Writer has hated them ever since they overwhelmed him at the age of 2 during a "geese feeding" gone wrong.

There are two brown geese that reside at Lake Eola here in Orlando that are notorious for chasing people who wear red.

Ah yes, we all have a goose story. Thanks for reviving those memories!

I agree wholeheartedly. In fact, we should line our borders with flocks of geese. How's that for homeland security?

I am totally with you, but my experience was with a Tom Turkey. I had a friend that was a painter and lived in the country and I drove out to see her and when I pulled up in front of her home, and got out of my car this Tom came out of nowhere and started chasing me up onto her porch. Luckily, she heard the comotion and came out and shewed him away! Close call. Oh, how I wanted to cook him in my oven but he probably would have tasted like a "tough old boot"! Would you please consider signing up as one of my followers? It would mean much to me. love to you and have a great day. nancy

Loved your six days of Christmas! My Christmas days were so disorganized, I didn't even get my cards out, so I decided to add Russian Orthodox Christmas to my festivities. It's sometime in January and the cards will be on time!

I think it's because they are a little stupid. Honestly... they are one of the dumbest animals I have seen.

ME, TOO! I hate geese, I tell you. One time, I was feeding them....just tossing bread, and one of them came up and bit me on the thigh! It took months for the bruise to go away!

I just found your blog and I must confess I feel a little foolish as to why I clicked on over here. I saw your comment on "My Romantic Home", and your name immediately caught my attention, but when I saw your little profile pic, I immediately saw a resemblance to Melissa Gilbert! By then, my curiosity was piqued and I had to click on over. Imagine my delight to enjoy your 12 days of Christmas. You clearly have a great sense of humor!

For some reason the term "silly goose" seems appropriate here! We used to have a flock of them when I was a child--they were MEAN, and yet oddly affectionate. They would walk around the outside of the house and hang around the open window of whatever room we were in, as if "listening".

Thanks for the giggle! Love the blue and white header--my favorite combination!
Happy New Year!

I have been pecked a time or too also but it's usually because I'm trying to peek too closely at their babies. They are territorial mamas. :)

The only experience that I've had with geese is that they leave their droppings everywhere! Yuk. No fun to step in with high heels. I've heard that they are rude little pests. Best of everything to you in the upcoming new year, Laura.
