Cinderella goes to the ball

Did I ever tell you that Mr. Decor was born and raised in Panama? Yes indeed. His great grandmother traveled down to Panama after the death of her husband, This was during the time the great canal was being built and the government hired women to work in the offices.

This is a Kuna Indian woman, not M.D.'s great grandmother. :)

Mr. Decor's grandfather received the Roosevelt Medal for his work on the canal. Every 4th of July the Panama Canal Society hosts several luncheons and dances for members of the society in Orlando.

It had been several years since we last attended the event. A week long vacation to Florida and it's beautiful beaches was just what the doctor ordered to get me on the mend.

I will soon post even more loveliness that I encountered on my trip.

Be blessed!

Laura what wonderful family history. Many thanks for sharing. Your experiences there sound so memorable, can't wait for pictures.
I'm thinking a trip there would certainly do the trick to make you feel rejuvenated. Your husband must be so proud of his heritage & their accomplishments?
Happy weekend to you & yours,
Deb

Interesting...It happens that both my father and maternal grandfather worked on the Panama Canal during the 1940's. They travelled from home on the Atlantic coast of Honduras for the work opportunity at the Canal.

Awesome! Did you eat arepas? Or empanadas? My mom is from Colombia, which of course, is near Panama. I visited Colombia, wow, 13 years ago. I loved it!

Beautiful photos!
