Memorial Day, part two (give away)

Memorial Day is the kick off of summer. Now is the time to dust off your white shoes and dine al fresco. Cath Kidston is one designer who delights me with colorful glories for the season.

Isn't this a charming picnic basket? I see that there is even a spot to store the fried chicken.

Perhaps you'll need a few cushions to scatter about for soft seating.

What a stylish way to keep the lemonade cool.

Lounging by the pool has never looked so sweet.

Happy star towels to dry off with.

I love the smell of sheets that are line dried. This peg bag makes the job of locating a clothespin not quite such a chore.

The bird print melamine plate just sings summer.

Happy cutlery in a garden palette.

Enjoy summer evenings with a pretty lantern.

This strawberry patterned china brings the outdoors in. Perfect for places like Phoenix where entertaining is relegated to the indoors.

These goblets are pastel perfection, punch anyone?
Create an indoor garden in a bedroom or bath with this floral wallpaper.

Fabulous fashionista's would look fetching in this floral frock.

A cute skirt made for rounding up the kiddos on summer break.

For the crafter, a cheery sewing box. My heart pines for such cuteness.

Now for the best part of the post, a Cath Kidston giveaway.

Last week I found "Vintage Style" at a second hand shop. Although the cover is a bit worn the book inside is just perfect. It is accompanied by a new "Dream Home Journal". As a designer I often recommend that clients start a journal of their favorite magazine photo's and article ideas. This organizer fits the bill perfectly. Of course I always send little extras in all my giveaways and this one is no exception. Leave me a comment on your summertime favorites and a random entry will be selected to win on Wednesday, May the 28th. As for the time I never know the time of when I will be able to blog~kids~ I am sure that explains it all. So get it in by Wednesday morning to be safe.

Good luck!
Update on Wednesday, May 28.
Congratulations to the lovely Lidy at French Garden House. Please email me your information and I will ship your goodies out "toot sweet".

Laura, Thanks for entering my giveaway! My summer memories are from growing up in the Kansas: homemade, hand-cranked ice cream, fire flies, sunning on the barn roof and my mom's fried chicken! Yum! Martha, Vintage Trifles

Laura, what a pretty give-away! My favorite summery find is a new line of retro appliances in beach colors over at http://bigchillfridge.com/site/ Gorgeous! I'm in love! I also remember an ice-box pie my mom used to make called a "Millionaire Pie." It was the greatest.

My summer memories revolve around our cottage in Vermont, swimming in the cold lake, hiking up the mountains, picking wild blueberries (and the pie), playing monopoly when it rained and cuddling under a quilt when the nights were cool.
Please enter me in your lovely giveaway.

Laura! This give away is way too generous! I have to say that the rose covered lawn lounger is by far my favorite! I'd love to own four of them! Can I announce your give away on my blog by adding it to tomorrows post? Tomorrow I will announce the winner of my give away.

OOOOOooo00000h and Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! You had me at giveaway, let alone a C.K giveaway!
Count me in! As for my favorite summertime finds were actually gifts from my son last mothers day. The most awesome garden trowel with depth measurements for bulb planting etched on the spade, the side is a cutting tool for twine ,small branches etc and it is ergonomically handled and made of stainless steel. This along with a gardener tote/stool and a beautiful vintage garden journal. Of course no summer find is as rare or precious as that enigmatic bathing suit that actually fits right AND makes me look thin. Smiles,
Darly

What a great prize! Cath Kidston just screams SUMMER to me. A great summer memory for me is my hubby, kids and I roasting marshmallows while watching movies under the stars. We have a BIG canvas screen out back and watch movies from a dvd projector. It's sooo much fun!

Laura,

This is such a cheery post, with all the great bright Cath Kidson products. My daughter really fell in love with the whole Cath Kidson line when she lived in Scotland for four years, and I've loved it ever since.

That wallpaper is divine! I love my Cath Kidston catlogs - even wrap special gifts with the pages sometimes. I think my favorite things during the Summer are family things and the randomness of it all - just the freedom to picnic at the park or hit the road for a day. And my back porch! Kids running, swimming and saying,"mom watch this!" Have a great Tuesday. Blessings... Polly

Dear, dear blgging friends,

I am so enjoying your memories of summer.
As many of you know, my sweet little dachshund is having serious health issues and your lovely comments about summer memories help to take my mind to a sweeter place.

God bless you all, and keep them coming!

What a neat giveaway! I love vintage style... and all the punchy red in your pictures makes me smile. Our weather is just beginning to be warm enough to enjoy outdoor activities. I love having morning coffee on the porch, cook-outs with friends, and sitting on the porch swing after dark watching the stars come out. I miss lightning bugs in the early evening. (I am a southern girl transplanted to Idaho, where the lightning bugs don't live!)

What a great give-away. Summer as a child was spent with my great grandma on Lake Waubesa making butter pickles and fishing with a old cane pole from shore catching bullheads. I was fascinated the way she could pull all that hair up into a bun (she sat on her hair) in just a few seconds. Vicki Page thepages@charter.net

What a great giveaway! I just told a friend this morning that I need to start a journal with all the pictures I find in catalogues and magazines.

A favorite summer memory...Catching lightning bugs just as it's starting to get dark. I can't wait till my kids are old enough to stay up so we can do it together.

Great Summer memory...WATERMELON season! Love it when it is sweet and juicy. My Dad was the best "watermelon picker" and use to thump it to make sure it was "just ripe" enough. Then he would put it in a galvanized tub on ice all dayand leter in the evening he would slice into quartersize pieces with the rhine to hold onto. I can still smell that sweet scent and feel that sticky sweet juice running down my arms. He passed away about 8 years ago, but I have a lifetime of summertime memories. Funny how something so small can bring so much pleasure and sustain us as we nuture our own families along. Hope my children have as many fond memories.

I love to wear shorts, a t-shirt and flip flops on a hot summer day. I love sitting out in the backyard drinking lemonade and waiting for a cool breeze to pass.

"Summertime...& the livin's easy..." I love all things summer! Growing up in Virginia, some of my favorite things about summer were the vanilla soft-serve ice cream from the "tinkly music" ice cream truck, climbing my Nan's apple tree and picking apples for pies, and big family and neighborhood fish frys. Oh, also riding bikes from dawn 'til dusk, "slip-n-slides," and all the little league baseball games that went on right up the street from our house!

Summer memories to me make me think of going to the beach and playing in the water all day. The smell of sun tan lotion.

Then going home, skin pink from the sun and knowing in a few hours that pink will turn to a nice bright red. OUCH! Sunburned again. Even with the lotion we would stay out in the sun to long.

Having a BBQ with friends and family. The warm nights. Going to bed tired from the busy but fun day and having sweet dreams.

Please sign me up for your give away it is lovely.

Well, if there is still "time," please include me! This is wonderful—as is your blog!

I was born and raised in Long Beach, CA. so I still have an affinity for seascape, seagulls, and rolling waves. However, add vintage to the mix and I'm a happy camper. I love the linens of the 40's and 50's and current designers like April Cornell and Cath Kidston... Good stuff!

Thanks for visiting my blog and making me aware of your own blog and this Giveaway!

ack! How exciting! THANK YOU so much for having this wonderful give~away...I am beyond blessed. (Sorry I'm a little late in noticing I won.)

ps. I love summertime meals outside, waking up to the calls of birds and sunshine, and listening to the children playing outside or in the pools in our neighborhood. My favorite memories are probably about visiting my family's forest in Europe, and the wonderful times we spent there.:)
